Too Often We Feel Unworthy

Too Often We Feel Unworthy

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Do we honestly believe that the Father loves us? He proved it by calling us to a special friendship with Him. Recognizing our own sins and limitations, too often we feel unworthy. But we are chosen! Just as Matthias was chosen to join the ranks of the apostles, so we have received a special calling. The specific vocation of each one of us comes from God along with the grace to respond generously.

Please pray for the new ministers and servants of God’s people ordained for our diocese. They have a long and difficult road ahead of them. Our prayerful support can make things easier for them and attract others to imitate their generous response. The entire church community is responsible for fostering vocations to the priesthood and religious life. We do that in our families, in our parishes, in the worldwide church. Being faithful and conscientious in the way we live our calling is a powerful witness for young people. Dedicated married couples, parents, priests and religious are the best advertisements for future vocations.

Just as the Holy Spirit took charge of recruitment in the early Church, today let us be confident in Jesus’ grace in providing ministers for His Church. May the Lord Jesus bless our new deacons and priest with zeal and generous enthusiasm in doing His work. May Our Blessed Lady be their special Mother and friend. Pray for priests and religious!
